Ukrainian Municipal Delegation Welcomed in Luxembourg to Discuss Essential Projects

We were honored to host a delegation of Ukrainian municipal leaders in Luxembourg, who presented urgent needs and project proposals at the European Investment Bank (EIB). This significant gathering, which we had the privilege of co-organizing, brought together over 30 representatives from Ukraine to share the distinct challenges their communities face.
Ukrainian municipalities are navigating a wide range of critical needs due to the ongoing conflict. Those near the Russian border are focused on extensive rebuilding efforts, while cities farther from the frontlines are managing large numbers of displaced citizens and building hospitals for the wounded, requiring sustained support to maintain these vital services. EIB leaders acknowledged these diverse challenges, giving each Ukrainian representative the chance to present their projects and receive invaluable guidance.
Key Highlights from the Meeting at the European Investment Bank (EIB):
- Lionel Rapaille, EIB Director, warmly received the delegation, reiterating the EIB’s unwavering support for Ukraine and its dedication to assisting municipalities directly.
- Christian Larsen, EU Seconded National Expert, provided updates on EU-supported projects for Ukrainian municipalities, outlining initial successes and future phases planned for 2025-2027.
- Each Ukrainian representative detailed their community’s needs and project plans, with time for direct questions to EIB and EU leaders.
- EIB managers offered tailored insights on support and funding opportunities available for Ukrainian cities.
Our deep gratitude goes to the EIB and especially to Violaine Silvestro von Kameke, Principal Advisor at the EIB, for her warm welcome and steadfast support for Ukraine. We look forward to strengthening these collaborations and partnerships to aid in the recovery and growth of Ukrainian municipalities.
