Coaching Sessions and Networking Possible in Hospitality: Opening Careers in the Service Sector of Luxembourg

On 5 May, the Empower to Employ initiative hosted a dynamic and interactive workshop dedicated to exploring employment in Luxembourg’s hospitality sector. This event brought together project participants eager to learn more about working in tourism, food & beverage, hotels, and related service industries.
The session was expertly facilitated by Matthew De Cae, an experienced Job Coach and Human Capital Manager. With a track record of supporting over 500 individuals and coordinating national youth career programs, Matthew brought both deep expertise and a personal, human approach to guiding job seekers in hospitality careers.
During the workshop, participants received a comprehensive introduction to the structure of the hospitality industry in Luxembourg, including an overview of current trends, labour market demands, and possible career paths. Through a game-based format, they were encouraged to reflect on their personal skills, values, and interests — and how these could align with real-world job opportunities in the sector.
The workshop was not only informative but also engaging and motivating. The format fostered open dialogue, peer support, and the chance to share experiences. Many participants highlighted the value of practical tips, industry-specific guidance, and the opportunity to connect with others navigating similar career transitions.
Matthew’s warm facilitation style and encouraging presence created a safe and positive environment. Participants left with a clearer understanding of where their strengths could be applied and how to move forward in their professional journey within hospitality — whether as hotel staff, kitchen and service professionals, event assistants, or tourism specialists.
We express our heartfelt thanks to Matthew for his dedication and expertise, and to all participants for their enthusiasm and openness during the session. Events like this demonstrate how vital knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and peer networking are to successful labour market integration.
This event was part of the Empower to Employ project, coordinated by the Luxembourg-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce (LUCC), with the support of the Fonds social européen plus (FSE+) and the Ministère du Travail of Luxembourg. The project aims to support Ukrainians under temporary protection in building meaningful careers and integrating into Luxembourg’s economy.
