Jan De Pauw (b. 1966) is a senior Belgian diplomat overseeing Brussels’ coordination on Ukraine: since early 2024 he has served as Belgium’s Special Envoy for Ukraine, leading an interdepartmental platform that aligns support across federal and regional administrations. He returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in September 2022 after a posting as Deputy Chief of Mission at Belgium’s Embassy in Washington, D.C., and took on the role of Ukraine Task Force Coordinator alongside a Deputy Director position in the Directorate for East and South-East Europe & Central Asia. Earlier assignments include Deputy Head of Mission in Tehran, postings in Jerusalem and Berlin with political reporting focused on the Middle East, and a Brussels-based role on the North America desk, where he worked primarily on U.S. files.
