We are pleased to reflect on the impactful discussions and insights shared at the Ukraine-Luxembourg Industry Forum 2020, held on February 4th, 2020, at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. This forum was dedicated to addressing the crucial topics of energy efficiency and CO2 emission reduction, aligned with the objectives outlined in the Paris Convention on Climate Change.
At the heart of the discussions was the imperative to limit global warming to no more than 2 degrees Celsius by 2050, as stipulated in the Paris Agreement. Europe’s proactive stance on climate action was highlighted, particularly through the introduction of CO2 emission certificates and the establishment of emission limits for various industries, coupled with a trading scheme for these certificates.
As European law mandates the transformation of these measures into national legislation across Union countries, the Industry Forum provided a platform for key stakeholders to convene and deliberate on the challenges and opportunities ahead. The Ukraine-Luxembourg Business Club invited industry leaders to share their perspectives on the threats and challenges they face, as well as to explore specific strategies for achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
The Industry Forum 2020 underscored the collective commitment of both Ukraine and Luxembourg to advancing energy efficiency and combating climate change. By fostering dialogue and collaboration among industry players, we are charting a path towards a more sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.
